Pet Acoustics is part of a new field for animal care. Part of the creation of what we can do for animals in their life world is to help them feel content. The challenge is to understand how they communicate and measure the response of animals. We are working to help pets to feel calm and to cultivate a therapeutic tool. We know when we are happy, sad, and anxious and this crosses over to animal responses as seen daily by pet owners in their pets. There is the same emotional content. When our pets are distressed it affects a pet owner’s life.
There are practical and subjective scenarios in this new field. There is academic support of our focus of hearing ranges and that limited bandwidth is an ideal concept to offer music that soothes and calms animals. There are already scientific general principles that stand up to this concept. The studies of cows producing more milk when listening to classical music is a testimony to the value of music to soothe an animal and the emotional relaxation response through hearing of bovines. There is a tremendous amount of anecdotal feedback and we look forward to working with scientists and developing relationships with animal science departments in universities around the world. The validation of sound and animal environment is a worth exploring on a scientific and functional level. It is already known as depicted in the Music Instinct by Emmy award winning producer, Elena Mannes’ PBS documentary "The Music Instinct: Science and Song" that states that "Researchers and scientists from a variety of fields are using groundbreaking techniques that reveal startling new connections between music and the human mind, the body and the universe."
My Pet Speaker and the music of Janet Marlow’s species-specific design for dogs, cats and horses is a beginning for Pet Acoustics mission on behalf of animals. Up until now most music for animal soothing like Mozart and Chopin is based on human likes and dislikes. We assume what pleases humans pleases our pets in the environment. Pet acoustics music is tailored in rhythm, flow, themes and bandwidth limited to soothe according the hearing acuteness of a dog, cat and horse. This music, developed in 2003, has impacted many pets worldwide as stated by hundreds of pet owners with impressions they describe of the positive response and with repeatable results.
We feel good about this new stage of Pet Acoustics. Our company is part of the new level of awareness of the complex life world of our pets. We live in close contact with our pets for our own needs but in doing so we are learning our pets have needs of their own. We at Pet Acoustics want to be an integral part of this movement as we share our lives with all animals on this planet.
