Pet Acoustics is the founding organization behind species-specific psychoacoustics research.

We know how animals respond differently to sound frequencies.

Proven through Biometric Studies

The following physical metrics have been recorded in dogs, cats, and horses—with the same principles applied to birds and rabbits in observatory studies.

Lower Pulse Rate

Pulse rates in animals were studied showing lowered pulse rates indicating balance and calm during Pet Acoustics listening sessions.

Improved Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

HRV is the fluctuation in the time intervals between adjacent heartbeats. Higher HRV is a positive indicator of better health and less stress demonstrated in our studies.

Decreased Cortisol Levels

Cortisol is the stress hormone produced when animals experience stress. Salivary tests revealed Pet Acoustics music directly lowered cortisol levels.

Calmer Activity

Observational studies reveal a consistency of environment through our music provided pet subjects with a sense of wellness and safety.

Results Are Published and Peer-Reviewed

We invite you to take a deep-dive into our findings published in International Animal Health Journal.

Our Process

Frequencies and decibels are contoured for specific pet hearing to reshape their listening environments from a sonic perspective.

Animal hypervigilant behavior is triggered by high and low frequencies whether indoors or outdoors. Through a proprietary process, we eliminate ultra-high and sub-low frequencies in our designed music, resulting in a comfort listening zone for pets.

Meet the Founder

Since 1997 Sound Behaviorist and internationally-renown musician, Janet Marlow, M.A., has championed research in pet hearing.

Janet Marlow, M.A. is the industry leader in pet hearing and an expert on how frequencies impact mental and physical well-being. Through clinical studies, she has shown the positive effects of music scientifically tailored for different animal species. Her findings have innovated the very process of contouring music for animal hearing ranges for behavioral health.

Marlow has been featured on platforms including Animal Planet’s K9 Kharma, CBS’s Good Morning America, CNBC’s The News with Shepard Smith, and The Martha Stewart Show. Janet is also speaker at professional events such the Western Veterinary Conference and The New York Vet Show.
